2 WAYS TO SAY SWEET WORDS (HONEY) AS A TERM OF ENDEARMENT IN KOREAN

There are different ways to say an endearment to someone you love in Korean, like a sweet nickname for someone you love. Some of you know the word oppa, yeobo, Jagiya, nae sarang , Kiyomi etc. These sweet nicknames is a term of endearment that allows you to express your feelings and also make you feel closer to the person.

The two that I would be focusing on are Yeobo and Jagiya.  If you watch Korean dramas a lot, you would have heard your favourite actor say the word Yeobo, especially married couples.  You must have also heard Jagiya too, especially between the younger people. So let us look at what they mean.

WHAT DOES YEOBO MEAN ?

In Korean drama, we hear the word yeobo mentioned a lot, especially between a married or couple male and a female. Yeobo simply means honey or my darling. It is an endearment term mostly used by engaged or married couples. Sometimes it can be called Yobo which is the romanized version of Yeobo

WHAT DOES JAGIYA STAND FOR

Jagiya which is also called jagi in Korean means my sweetie or my baby, it is used to call someone honey. Another way to say it is (Ya). As compared to Yeobo where relationship matters, in the case of Jagiya, Jagi and Ya, it does not matter if you are engaged or a couple, anybody can call their loved one even young couples and those who started dating can say Jagi or Jagiya. In the Romanized version, it is called chagiya

In summary, these terms are used form endearments in Korean, they sound adorable and make people and couples feel affectionate towards each other.
