PACHINKO EPISODE 8 REVIEW: SERIES FINALE

This drama is a serious drama and I love every part of it. The actors did a good job, the crew and also the writer did a fantastic job.

This episode starts in Osaka 1938, in a school. We see 7 years old Noa and his friend talking,  Noa telling his friend not to be a cry baby and stand up to the bullies, Isak calls for  him Noa from outside.

Apparently it was his little brother’s birthday. On their way home,  Noa tells Isak its always about his little brother , Isak tells him not to feel bad , that the celebration was for everyone( this scene shows how close the father and son are, well not biologically related though, if we recall Noa is Sunja’s son she had for Hansu , who refused to marry her , but isak married her).

Noa goes home and tells Sunja he waited for Isak to come pick him but he never showed up.

Sunja found out that isak had been arrested for reasons that weren’t said. She found out he had been working with revolutionaries who were against the Emperor. While she was with them, they were arrested and sunja was being questioned about her husband by the police.

When she and Noa were leaving the police station they witnessed Isak being forced into a van to be taken to prison. Noa ran towards Isak but they wouldn’t allow him say goodbye,  Noa then ran after the van for as long as he could. (This was a very emotional scene to watch)

Sunja had to do what her mother used to do, she made kimchi to sell, so she could fend her self and her sons , Joseb her brother in law wasn’t pleased with that , but Sunja pleaded and he allowed her because she was helpless.

At the market she had to gather enough strength to sell her kimchi.

Meanwhile in the present old Sunja had a talk with Solomon who was fired from his job and she gave him a gift , which we recognized  as the pocket watch Hansu gave her( I thought she sold it to pay joseb debt , and it was sold to hansu , how did she get it back).

We really hope we get to see how she got it back.

Yes! Finally ,the scene we have been waiting for. We just knew this scene would happen.

How Hansu approached Noa on his way to school, as if they knew each other or has he been watching them from afar?

We really hope there’s a season 2 to see if he had been watching them and how sunja would react to this. Although he is his biological father, its too late. We wonder why he decided to show now and why he approached the young boy.

Its sad to say goodbye to Pachinko or should we say Pachinko season 1 we hope there’s a season 2.
