Every year on October 9th the Hangul day is celebrated in South Korea. It is recongnised as one of the national holiday in South Korea that requires a day off. It is also known as “Hangul Proclamation Day.” The day to commemorate and honour the institution of the Korean writing script/ alphabet the Hangul which was introduced by King Sejong in 1446.

Hangul is made up of 14 consonants and 10 vowels, making it an alphabet with a total of 24 letters.
The Hangul day was created by the South Korean Government and every official of the Korean government and institution gets to take the holiday, this includes Korean government organisations around the world that is why Korean Cultural Centre In Nigeria is celebrating the holiday and is closed.
Guess what there is a Hangul event coming up in Abuja Nigeria to celebrate Hangul. It is the Hangeul Day event at KCCN! Which would be held at the KCCN Exhibition hall and some activities planned includes learning Basic Korean words and pronunciation, Hangul calligraphy session , quiz and games to mention a few.
