Every month, there are records of Korean events and program that happens in different states in Nigeria, majorly in Lagos and Abuja. The month of September which is recognised as the Chuseok month has some events and activities in store. The beautiful thing is that if you cannot attend some of these events, you can recreate them in your home. Without any delay, let’s dive into the events and programs we have for the month of September.

KOREAN DRAMA ON AIT
The first program on the list is for Korean lovers. If you love Korean drama, and you happen to be in Nigeria, then you would be as excited about this news as I was when I saw it. Korean drama is coming to some of the Television stations in Nigeria. Simply put, Korean drama would be airing on different stations and National stations in Nigeria. There is 1 National station, African Independent Television (AIT), and 3 cable networks namely GOTV channel 122, DSTV channel 253, Startimes: Channel 128. This making it 4 stations in Nigeria. the kdrama would air from 3:00pm to 3:50 pm on Fridays, making it a 50 minutes screen time . There are two Korean dramas that would be aired namely the Penthouse, The Fiery Priest would From September 1st 2023. The Fiery Priest will air on same time after all episodes of the penthouse season 1 has aired. I am super excited about this because I haven’t watched any and I plan to make my mum watch these drama with me just like how we see in Korean drama when mothers watch Korean drama with their daughters.
HALLYU CREATOR 3.0
If you are a content creator, then you should consider applying for this. Hallyu creator This is the third edition of the Hallyu creator program. The program is for people who love to talk about culture and creating quality videos about Nigeria and Korea. The duration of the program is September 2023 to August 2024. I was part of the creator program for Hallyu Creator 2.0 and was part of the best creators. You can participate from anywhere in Nigeria.
SAC ON SCREEN
When I saw this event, I was like I wish I was in Abuja. This event is basically a screening of 4 of the best Korean cultural performances from the Seoul Art Centre from 31st of August to September 14th. The screening time is 4:00pm on all days.
The screenings are based strictly on invitation. The first screening is the Ballet Simchung which is based on the Korean folktale about a filial daughter. The second screening is a Non-Verbal Puppet show about the story of Dallae and her family whose lives were interrupted by the Korean War. The third is an Opera about the Chunhyang Prison Break and the last one is the Musical of the Last Empress held on the 14th of September 4:00pm. This musical is Korea’s First mega hit musical.

CELEBRATE CHUSEOK WITH KCCN
Chuseok is a Popular Korean festival. It is a time to celebrate and express gratitude for the bountiful harvest. It is considered the Korean equivalent of Thanksgiving. Families gather to pay homage to their ancestors and visit ancestral graves, offering food and performing ancestral rites. A central aspect of Chuseok is the “seongmyo” ritual, where families dress in traditional attire and visit ancestral grave sites to pay their respects.
Additionally, the “ganggangsullae” dance, performed by a circle of women under the full moon, showcases the festive spirit of the holiday
So to celebrate 2023 Chuseok Festival, Korean Cultural Centre has planned a 3 days event. These events would run from 21st , 26th to 28th September. The event would cover Korean cooking class, A movie screening and Ssirum Tournament. These are important events that takes place in South Korea.

Ssirum is a popular Korean sport. Ssireum is a traditional Korean wrestling game where two opponents try to force each other out of the circular ring. Both games involve competitive elements and strategic thinking.The game involve competitive elements and strategic thinking.
