AMAZING KPOP ARTIST IN GIRL GROUP WHO IS BLACK

KPOP is a highly recognised and accepted music genre around the world, we have BTS, Black Pink , EXO etc. to show for it.

The name BLACKSWAN is known among many k-pop fans wideworld as the controversal, barieer breaking group to have the first black k-pop idol, Fatou Samba.

Fatou is a member of the five member girl group, BLACKSWAN. Fatou is 27 years old. Born in Senegal and raised in Belgium, she has had the dream to be a kpop idol since she was 15 years old. She moved to Korea in 2018 as a model under Cineline Entertainment before she decided to be a trainee.
Debuting in 2020 with their title Tonight, the group consists of members, Leia, Judy and Youngheun beside Fatou. The group previously included another member Hyeme who has since left the group.

Although she is acredited by many as being the first black k-pop idol in this new age of global popularity for the South-Korean originating genre, before her came another.

Before there was BLACKSWAN, DR Music, their management company, had debuted a previous group known as BP RaNia. This girl group included another black idol, Alexandra Reid. She was an African-American idol who debuted and promoted with the group from 2015-2017 and was actually the first black k-pop idol to debut.

Alexandra Reid is 33 years old and born in Kansas, USA. She is no stranger to the camera as a singer, dancer, rapper and actress. She made her American solo debut in 2012 with the EP Letters to my Ex. She joined Rania in 2015 and was responsible for writing most of their songs.

BP RaNia was an eight-member group consisting of Saem, Jooyi, Riko, Joy, Yijo, Di, T-ae and Xia in 2011, but just after their debut, Yijo announced her departure from the group over issues with the management and made it very clear that she was fond of her former group members and they infact were not the problem. Since then, the group has seen a number of scandals, member changes and hiatus from 2019 before they finally debuted as the BLACKSWAN we know today.

The name was officially commemorated as they debuted with a full-length album, Goodbye Rania. In November 2020, BLACKSWAN embarked on a brief hiatus.

They then had a comeback on October 14, 2021, with their first single album Close to Me, but as they continue to search for a new member, fans also continue to wait for the group to make another comeback after months on hiatus.

The two women in this post are the black women we know in KPOP, if you know any, please let is know in the comment section.
